The current shepherd of the New Zion Missionary Baptist Church family is Rev. Larry Michael Davis. Pastor Davis came into the blessed flock at NZMB in 1995. Prior to his call, he served at several area churches in many capacities. Prior to his tenure at NZMBC, he was the pastor of Rocky Creek Baptist Church in Mart, Texas.


Pastor Davis is a 2nd generation pastor. He is the son of the late Arthur Davis, and the son of choice of the late Rev. Oscar D. Terrell, and Sis. Callie M. Terrell. Rev. Terrell was pastor of Lover’s Leap Baptist Church of Waco, Texas. Pastor Larry Davis was licensed and ordained, under his fathers watch, to the ministry in 1978.


He graduated from Baylor University in 1981 with a degree in Business Education. He attended Truett Seminary and later received a master’s degree in theology from Guadalupe Theological School in San Antonio , Texas. He was also awarded an honorary doctorate of ministry from the American International Bible Institute and Seminary.


Pastor Larry Davis is married to the former Cindy Alexander. They have been married for 28 years. They are the proud parents of one child, Matthew Christian Davis. Matthew is a senior at Midway High School – Waco , Texas where he is a member of the football team, track team and serves a peer mentor, as a PAL (Peer Assistance & Leadership).


Following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, Matt contributes to his church family by participating in the music ministry. In July 2008, Matthew will temporarily part from his family as he goes off to college. He will be attending the United States Air Force Academy where he will matriculate and contribute as a member of the Falcon’s football team.
